| - Its really strange the things that make a dinner "amazing." Sometimes its the food, other times its the drinks, but in the case of Beckett's Table its the thought that went into the physical construction of the restaurant when it comes to noise.
Take a big room, fill it full of people talking, people making food, servers trying not to drop things, a bar, and a small waiting area with patrons chomping at the bit to sit down and play "piggy in a trough." Mix all of these together in most any eating establishment in Phoenix, and you have a room so loud you'd swear you were at a KISS concert.
But this isn't the case at Beckett's. They took the extra minute of forethought and had noise reducing baffling installed in the rafter space. This means you can sit and have a conversation, at a normal voice and you can hear the person across from you. Now this isn't "always" a great thing, but with the person I dine with all the time, its nice to be able to talk without shouting.
And then there's the food.
I've eaten at Beckett's many times. Ever been to a place where you can say "damn, I've never had a bad meal there!"? Well, that's Beckett's for me. From the Pork osobucco to the burger to the veg dishes I've had, everything has been good. For me, that's pretty rare, and puts Beckett's on a very short list of places I'll always go to.
So why not 5 stars? There's never a steak on the menu, and this confuses me. It forces me to have to eat other things, which sometimes annoys me. I'm a spoiled fat guy, and I want things my way, damnit.
