| - My girls and I decided to meet up and try out a new spot we've been hearing about. So on an early Sunday evening, we met up at this establishment for some dinner and of course...drinks.
Located in the Parkdale area, you might just walk right by the storefront and not take much notice of it because of the blacked out windows with white logo on the front. Upon opening the door, you are met by a curtain that you have to pull back to fully enter the joint...different.
Once inside, you will need some time for your eyes to adjust to the very dimly lit interior. We could barely see where we were walking, let alone our menus! But eventually, our eyes were able to focus and we were pleased by the ambience and "tiki" chill out vibe.
A far amount of seating, but if you want to go in a large group, I would suggest to make a reservation beforehand.
Our waitress was friendly and helpful in suggesting our drinks and food. We all ordered a different drink to try, although the bowls peeked our interests. We were able to bare witness to some patrons ordering the volcano bowl. Right before the bowl is served to the table, a loud deep voice recording comes on saying "volcano bowl" with dried ice creating smoke that emanates from the bar area...pretty cool.
Our order of drinks and food were served in a timely manner. We ordered the Pupu Platter (that consists of 6 apps of your choice), Tacos al Pastor and the Tuna Poke. The chips and guac were fresh, crab rangoon was delish and the maui coconut shrimp was tasty. Sadly, I didn't try to tacos or tuna poke, but my friends seemed to enjoy it. I wasn't a huge fan of the chicken satay, honey garlic wings and fries...average to say the least. The drinks were definitely the stars of the night! No complaints there.
Overall, if you're looking for something a little different to try out instead of just a regular bar and want to grab some cool drinks, this is a spot worth visiting.
