DO NOT go to this dentist office!!
I selected this office because it was close to my house. Staff on the phone was very friendly. I explained to them that I needed to see the dentist because I am in extreme pain from my wisdom teeth. I discussed with the receptionist about options if they have to be removed. Got a reminder text a day before and a few hours before my appointment which was was great.
I arrived to my appointment early, knowing that I had to fill out paperwork since I am a new patient. As I'm filing it out, the receptionist says that my insurance was not verified. Turns out that the information was written down incorrectly on their end from when I made my appointment over the phone. It wasn't a big deal and it was easily solved with a phone call to my insurance company. They also told me that I have had a cleaning in the past 6 months and I wasn't due for another yet. During my initial phone call setting up an appointment they knew I was there for my wisdom teeth, not a cleaning.
I get back into the chair and it's filthy and worn out from overuse. I sat and waited for a few minutes until someone came to the room. There was a med student in the office that was doing my X-rays, which is great practice for med student and I completely support that. She was very friendly and had good bedside manner. However, no one told me that she was in training and I figured it out when the other tech came in and was helping her. In most doctors offices that I've been too, the student is always introduced and identified before starting procedures. It's just good practice and good bedside manner to let the patient know.
The office knew that I was there for my wisdom teeth as I have now told them twice on the phone and in person when I arrived. My X-rays only barely showed the top of one of them. They should have gave me a pano X-ray so the dentist could actually see why I am in so much pain. I point out that the current X-rays do not show where the problem is and the tech leaves the room.
My appointment was at 11, and I got there early to speed up the paperwork process. At this point, it is almost 12 and I haven't seen the dentist yet. The dentist finally gets to me. I didn't hear or see anyone else in the office and I was the only one in the waiting room so I was a little bit irritated because of the wait time. It took her about 5 seconds to look in my mouth and say that they my teeth are impacted and I need to be referred to someone else. We go up to the front and she told the receptionist to write a referral. I told the receptionist that I wanted to go to a specific doctor and she told me that I could use the paper that she gave me to any dentist and I just have to call and tell them that I got a referral. That was incorrect because as I was leaving I called my preferred doctor and they told me that ever referral has to be written for a specific doctor. So I had to go back to the office to get a different form. It doesn't seem like the front staff has it together. I will not be returning.
