  • I used to always walk by this place during undergrad thinking... "Man will i ever make enough to be able to eat at this place?" I still don't but pulled the trigger one night before watching the game of thrones concert. Call it an off night which i'm sure it definitely was because I really wasn't all that impressed with the service or the food. ***Since this is a $$$$ restaurant, i'm gonna be much more critical so please don't think i'm being pompous*** Service: A beautiful wood hive embodies the restaurant as its worker bees hustle to make amazing food with beyond satisfactory service is the impression at first glance but upon being seated my plate had a long strand of hair waiting for me. Waiter was prompted and merely switched it out without any real apologetic notion. "ohh oops... is this your first time here?" I expected more of "My dear this is absolutely unacceptable, please excuse this avoidable mistake." Our server was a middle aged man with what sounded like a scottish accent seemed a bit perplexed maybe it was his first few shifts working here but didn't represent the valor of "Mastros" that I have heard so much about. The wait staff was efficient in clearing plates and refilling our waters. I ordered my rack of lamb medium rare and it came out quite rare. The server was accommodating to take the piece back to have it more evenly cooked. Food: Calamari was pretty standard compared to other calamari I have had at other restaurant. The Lobster bisque was definitely the highlight of the night, Full pieces of lobster claw and meat in my soup that was genuine since I was interrupted by a piece of shell in my mouth as I was enjoying this otherwise wonderful soup. Garlic mashed potatoes was standard and the gorgonzola mac & cheese was good but a bit thick with al dente macaroni. I was hoping for mac & cheese more on the soft buttery cheesy side but the cheese was quite solidified. Rack of lamb was excellent but make sure you order it medium and no more rarer than this. By the end of the meal we were too full to get dessert which I know they are famous for but at this point I wasn't to impressed with dinner. Overall: I really can't say if i'll give this place a chance. I'm not big into fancy restaurants unless the occasion calls for it and the next special night I have i'll probably end up going to one of my favorite spots in Vegas, Echo and Rig.
