  • I happened upon this tiny place a few months ago on my quest to find the best eyelash extension experts in the city. It's particularly hard to find reputable estheticians in the east end - most lash spas tend to be downtown, uptown, etc. First Impressions: La Belle Femme is located in a not-so-glam strip plaza in Scarborough (right beside a No Frills...so if you need some groceries on your way out, you're in luck), and is actually based inside of another storefront, Moretti's Hair Place. This confused me at first, because the sign for La Belle Femme is not immediately obvious, and you have to pretty much go all the way into Moretti's first. La Belle Femme is a one-woman operation (from what I saw), manned by the assertive and knowledgeable Arzina. She seemed a tiny bit disorganized when I first came in for my appointment (I was a few minutes early, but I had to wait a bit longer for her to get set up) but that was hardly an issue. I called ahead to book my appointment, and Arzina was very accomodating, although I had to call twice before I got an appointment properly set up. The Procedure: Arzina was good: she cleaned my lashes before beginning, and made sure to explain what she was going to do before application. The procedure was fairly quick, painless, and my lashes looked great. She normally charges about $100 for a full set (1 hr procedure), and fill-ins range from $40-60, which is quite reasonable, in my experience. I was unsure as to how many lashes she exactly applied, as she mentioned that she discusses the 'look' the client is going for first, and then bases the number of lashes on that, instead of having a pre-set number of lashes for application. It seems to be about the same price regardless, but I would clarify the price with her before you begin just so you know exactly what you are paying for. I didn't require a particularly dramatic look, so that may be why my procedure fell into the typical price categoy. On her brochure, however, it does state $100 for a 1 hour lash session, and does not mention the number of lashes per eye. Arzina is chatty, friendly, and knows what she's doing. She offers a number of other services, including waxing, massage, etc - none of which I've tried myself. My only minor complaint was that she received a business call in the middle of my session and ended up being on the phone for a while during my application. I'm not brutally picky so I didn't really care that day -- but had I been on a stricter schedule, I would have had more of an issue with the delay to my service. And, of course, it is a tad bit inconsiderate, although she did apologize for the disruption. Overall - if you're in the east end of the city and trying to find a convenient, affordable place to get your lashes (and maybe other beauty services) done, La Belle Femme is worth a try.
