  • It's been a couple of months since my wedding here at the Guild Inn Estate so this review is of my fondest memories of it. It may be a bit of a rant but wedding rants are hilarious. The coordinators are bad, I had Jennifer and she was bad. There's a laundry list of things that she was bad at, and they include: planning, communication, service, and coordination. Why, you may ask? Leading up to the wedding, she would take weeks to respond and when she did it did not answer the questions. During the wedding, she accepted our cake from the cake vendor and hid it. Did not tell anyone (including our banquet manager, Harvey, from Rovey Catering - who was great by the way) where the cake was. He had to hunt her down. After the wedding, Jennifer did not respond to emails and sent a final invoice more than 3 times because she kept forgetting things (kids meals, vegetarian meals, refund of items). What else was bad? Let's see... 1. Ceremony space was dirty: Oil stains on the floor, garbage and empty bottles around from the event before. The runner was put out 10 minutes before the ceremony so our photographers couldn't get a lot of shots of the space. 2. Skyjack in the middle of our lounge space: we had asked for this to be removed like, 5 times. Took them 2 hours to remove. Photographers could not get a clean shot of the reception tables since this huge, obnoxious structure was in the way. 3. Reception set-up wasn't completed: Jennifer told us that we could come the day before in the afternoon to set up since all the tables should be ready by then. When we arrived in the late afternoon and they weren't even done! After setting up what we could, we left to come back the next morning when we thought they would have everything in order. 4. Tables weren't set up on the wedding day: on our wedding day, they did not even have our reception tables up! This is after extensive planning with Jennifer for the layout. Did not even have a easel for us (when it was also included in the floor plan to be provided!). 5. THE SOUND SYSTEM: you would think a new venue would have their sound in tact! During our slideshow there was no sound. We had tested it earlier during the day and it was perfect. But the sound tech said if the sound were to play, it would blow the speakers (what?!). We did get a refund for the mandatory audio tech though (~$550) but not for the screen rental (~$400) which we only used for the slideshow. The sound was cackling during the speeches so a lot of people could not hear them. 6. Payment: we wanted to pay by cheque. Since Jennifer was so bad at planning, she forced us to get a money order because we were out of the window for sending a cheque. We told her this many, many times. 7. Workers: I really felt bad because there was this one girl that seemed to be busting her ass off. She even hurt herself because she was being pulled in so many different directions but she soldiered on. In the space of 2 hours I saw her get tables, set up runners, get easels, sweep, pick up garbage. The other people I saw were just telling her to do more stuff. One of our vendors were planning a wedding at the Guild Inn as well and also expressed their frustration with us with the lack of communication (they had a different coordinator though). It seems the issue is systemic and judging the reviews here and other websites, it seems like it's not a one-off. They have people who have no competency in wedding planning as wedding coordinators. Don't be fooled, as soon as they have your deposit, response time increases from 1-2 business days to 5-10 business days. This review is of the Guild Inn Estate, not the Guild Park (which is beautiful by the way). Take your photos here but I highly discourage anyone from booking a wedding here.
