Kim's Grocery never disappoints. This place is actually a Korean grocery however she (Kim the owner) carries numerous other Japanese & some Chinese items. I'm partial to the Korean seafood ramen & Korean udon, that she carries. From spices, sauces, dried condiments, frozen fish, frozen desserts, sushi rice, soups, to candies & snacks can be found here. Of course these are specialty brands. You need to know what you are looking for as many items don't have English descriptions, and if you don't Kim can be an excellent resource and help. She is one of the most friendly and helpful small specialty food store owner I have met. She prefers to treat you as a friend rather than just another customer.
Kim makes home made kimchee that's must try. Her kimchee is never too salty or too overwhelmed with vinegar. It always has more marinated vegetables than broth. These are all marks of excellent kimchee. Trust me. She also makes fresh vegetable soup daily that includes either tofu or rice. There's also vegetable fried rice and BBQ beef that she makes daily. These are all take-out items. I can never leave without getting at least one of these items to go. The prices are always reasonable given the specialty nature of the items.
Due to current space constraints the store is a little cramped. The far back corner is a little hard to maneuver around. She is supposedly moving to a larger location in Feb '11. I'm hoping she will be able to set up in a more maneuverable layout.
