| - We arrived sometime after 6 pm on Sunday, the PetHotel (at PetSmart across the street) had already closed, so we booked a room here just in case we arrived too late (we were travelling with 2 small hypoallergenic dogs). We parked by the closest door to our room to unload crates, suitcases... only to find out our room key would not open the door, so here we are stranded in the rain, husband had to go back through the lobby to let us in. Unloading the car, taking the dogs out to urinate, taking crates, suitcases, etc up to the 2nd floor via a stairwell took time. I would say by time we were done unloading the car it was almost 7:00 pm - so we decided to not load the dogs back in the car, but to crate them and go grab fast food. The entire time we were unloading, and freshing up (we got rained on) the dogs did not bark. We left and were literally walking back through the lobby back to our room at 7:23 pm we received a call from the hotel stating our dogs had been barking NONSTOP for 2 hours. LOL, we explained we had just arrived a hour ago. So okay, wrote that off. I have allergies, and one thing I'm allergic to are dogs. The room was dirty/dusty, I had taken allergy medicine, but around midnight I woke up and I literally could not breathe. Whatever lingered in that room was making me pretty sick - I woke my husband and he suggested getting in the shower/tub and seeing if steam would help, I almost slept in the car that night it was that bad. We turned off the fan (heat) and I sat in the shower for about a hour. It was a rough night to say the least. The pillows were little hard square bricks, so I propped 3 under my head trying to help the situation. The next day we could see the dirt and dust - it looks like it's not cleaned very well, one bath towel all tattered. We checked out the next morning and found a better hotel for the remainder of our stay. To say this was a BAD experience is an understatement. First the exaggeration by management that the dogs were barking for hours (when in reality might have been 20 minutes), when he could see we just checked in - knowing our dogs, when they heard doors slam (which we heard all night - we were by an exit door) they barked thinking it was us. Then the scare of not being able to breathe because of (I assume) dog dander left in the room in the vents, possibly in the bedding. One of our worst experiences and we travel a LOT. We did not even stay for breakfast - just wanted OUT.
