After reading so many good reviews of Pinxto on Yelp, I made a reservation for 2 on a Saturday night. The waitress recommended sharing 4-5 small pinxtos (portion is smaller than a tapa) and 1 main course to share between the two of us. The service was great and attentive, but we found the food just quite average:
Foie gros torchon: was decent but it didn't give us the "wow" moment
Scallop with Chorizo: the scallop was charred on the surface so the burned flavour instantly overwhelmed the taste of the scallop, which was a pity since the scallop was nicely cooked inside, it was soft and wasn't dry at all.
Stuffed Calamari: it was pretty blend and the squid tasted qutie fishy.... would not recommend this dish
Black Pudding with Apple Chutney: by far our favourite out of the small plates we ordered. It was served with a sherry reduction.
Grilled Octopus with Chorizo: the octopus was too dry and my boyfriend commented that "it tastes more like chicken".
Fillet Mignon with goat cheese: we ordered it medium rare, the beef was cooked well but it lacked a bit of seasoning. the goat cheese overpowered the taste of the beef just a tiny bit.
Final Verdict: the restaurant is really cozy and I heard from other Yelpers that they have a great selection of Spanish wine. Service was good but the food was somehow mediocre. We had cocktails too and they were pretty good.
