LOVED
The great customer service! The manager graciously applied a discount on our services because our massage service was cut short. He even gave us a couple extra goodies in our gift bag which was a memorable touch!
The steam room is great and the shower facilities were not only immaculate but they were well stocked with the Elmwood line of shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner.
The quality and selection of the tea is great. It's all selfserve, but the area is kept neat and tidy. So yummy and therapeutic!
After our massage, the water therapies, and quick snack at the juice bar, their cozy relaxation room was a nice spot to just unwind :)
Lunch at the terrace was better than expected. Service was a little slow, but the atmosphere was so relaxed and laid back that we didn't mind. After all, we were enjoying our lunch in bathrobes, so I couldn't be happier. Side note on the food, I would say the atmosphere is better than the food itself, but since there is often some sort of Elmwood special going on, the price of the 3 course is definitely worth the quality of the food and experience.
LIKED
The layout was a bit odd at first, but now that I look back, it makes complete sense. Every floor has a different service, and it really helps control traffic. We barely noticed the number of people going in and out, not sure if it was because the layout is well planned or possibly because we visited on a weekday.
The massage itself (we both got the sweedish) was average. Hopefully next time will be better. It was short and I didn't really feel relaxed. It just felt like I was lying there--maybe my therapist was tired?
DISLIKED-Besides the mediocre massage, this is where they lost points.
The service at the juice bar. I found the attendant to be very grumpy looking. When we asked for a muffin, we felt like we were disturbing him. He even snapped at my hubby who was reaching over to grab the muffin that was on the counter right in front of him, and said "Don't open the cover. I'll get you the muffin". Normally, this wouldn't be considered rude at all but his tone and demeanor was definitely far from pleasant. And it wasn't just us, another couple received similar treatment.
JUST A COUPLE SUGGESTIONS
How about a green space for relaxation? This would up the appeal of Elmwood, making it feel more like an escape. If a green space is not possible, then perhaps redesigning the relaxation room with green space in mind would be a simple, refreshing update.
It would be nice if there was a floor or a section (besides just the change room) that was dedicated to only women. This way Elmwood would appeal to women clients and open the possibility for significant occasions like baby showers, bridal showers, etc...
TIPS
Go on a weekday day to avoid the crowds or ask the staff when is the least busy time and visit then. This way you have more me-time or we-time :)
OVERALL
Great value, great service, great amenities-- Can't wait for our next visit!
