I've been to Meat & Potatoes numerous times but this past weekend it was all about that...
BRUNCH BRUNCH BRUNCH!
Highlights:
-Grapeleaves included at the Bloody Mary bar! The hot sauce variety is the best I've ever seen.
-The Strawberry or Peach Bellini.
-Fried taters with truffle aioli. Shut the front door. I wish I could eat this dish every day.
The experience: We had a group of 12 so we reserved the side room. To be expected, it's a bit loud but a must-have if you are attending with a large group. Our service was excellent. The waiter knew each dish, made perfect recommendations and was quick to notice when our beverages got low. The food runners we're also speedy and professional. We had one small incident with a loose coffee lid and a bit of hot brew landing on the back of my date but it was handled well and certainly didn't ruin our time there.
Food: I ordered the Shrimp & Grits, most of the table ordered the short rib hash (it's the most popular brunch item) and the rest of the dishes included the Pub burger, Bi Bim Bap, Huevos Ranchero, Eggs in purgatory and Chicken and Waffles. The Chicken and Waffles portion size made everything else seem like an appetizer! I thought that seemed a little inconsistent but that's not a huge complaint, I needed a to-go box for my meal and it was half the size! No major issues with any of the food. A bit of hot sauce needed for a few of the dishes but that's more personal preference than a stab at the quality of the food. I found my dish to be very rich, part of the reason I had to take the rest home. The flavor was wonderful, I only mention how rich it is so my fellow yelpers are aware.
The dining experience at Meat & Potatoes for lunch and dinner has long held a superb reputation and I am happy to report that their brunch experience is no different! You will not be disappointed!
