| - Waffle bar. Those two words were what initially lured me into this place. I mean, who could resist the thought of personalized-topped waffles? Add the incentive of a groupon, and I'm on it...but unfortunately, I have to say that I was slightly disappointed both times I went.
I had gone to eat here when they had opened a few months ago. I didn't particularly have an optimal experience - my boyfriend's hashtag waffles were served a little cold, and though we were the only customers there, I remember we had to wait a good amount of time for our food to arrive. I understand that this place was just starting out and just getting into the groove of things, so I chalked it up to that factor and refrained from writing a negative review. Additionally, the location is kind of sketchy, but they have no control over that really.
Flash forward. I decided to give it another shot a few months later. I ordered a dirty mocha chai and a West Coast waffle sandwich (bacon, chicken strips, avocado, tomato and cheese), which was the same exact order I had the first time around. The sandwich is what I'm giving the extra star for. It's worth a try, pretty good. It was better this time too as far as the amount of toppings go. Very filling.
The bad news: Service time is still pretty lousy. I even added the pre-tip in hopes of speeding up our food, but it was in vain. The employees are friendly, but I was expecting a smoother and more efficient delivery. They should train the people in charge of preparing the food a lot better. It shouldn't take long to make a waffle and add the trimmings. Especially if the trimmings don't require much maintenance and cooking at all. I'm all about trying small businesses and was really rooting for their success, but it was just disappointing to see that this place hasn't fully quite worked out its kinks yet.
