My boyfriend and I had to find a temporary apartment for about three months while our house was being finished. We found St Lucia and made it very clear we would be staying for three months. During the initial application process we were never told about a 60 day notice of move. Nonetheless when the time came to leave the apartment I was told I didn't give a notice and was required to pay TWO MONTHS RENT. I didn't understand as we didn't renew our three month lease so wasn't that notice enough that we weren't not staying? Or the fact of how I initially told the office that we would be staying three months time. I went to speak the property manager for about 2 hours and nothing. We were still required to pay. This truly felt like a way for the company that owns St Lucia to make some extra money, I had never felt so scammed in my life.
I will say that our of a 12 page contract on page 8 it did explain that was the penalty. So it was my fault for not reading the 12 page contract entirely, in the hopes that the person doing the application would tell me something of that nature. AGAIN, after we made it so clear we'd be leaving in 90 days.
Be careful, and read what you're signing. What we thought was a great find because awful news right before moving into our home.
