Despite wanting to come to this place for years now for one reason or another the stars never aligned.
Well, we finally got to eat at the famous Tao restaurant in Vegas. Let me just say I left feeling pretty underwhelmed.
The best compliment I can give this restaurant is it has awesome décor and bumping music. Its rare to eat at an Asian food restaurant where they have Drake playing in the background.
They said plates here are meant to be shared but they were super small portions of food. We tried the pork potstickers and they were almost cute how small they were. Like a large wad of gum. The lobster and shrimp spring rolls were the best thing I tried here all night. Amazing.
As for everything else, we had the duck fried rice and a noodle plate. Those were more than enough to share between the 4 of us. They both lacked in flavor but heavy on salt.
The $50 sirloin and broccoli was not nearly as big as it looks in pictures. One small helping between 4 of us and it was gone. I could have probably finished it all myself. The Orange chicken was delicious but again, not a lot to go around between 4 people.
I guess they are more generous with their rice and noodle plates because they are cheap to make but skimpy on the meat dishes.
Also, be prepared to wait. Had a late 10pm reservation on a Friday night and wasn't seated until 10:45. We were heading to the nightclub upstairs afterward and the promoter requested we get there by midnight or risk losing our table so we felt a little rushed to get through dinner.
I don't regret coming here because I had wanted to try this place out for some time now but it was a bit of a let down
