Eggs benny. Fries. Coffee.
Color me happy. My brunch at 5Church was a solid meal with friends. I loved my crab cakes benedict, which had some sort of magical jalapeno hollandaise sauce for dipping. The fries were tasty, but the order was a little small, and most of the fries seemed to be broken little nubbins instead of the nice long fries everyone really wants.
Negatives: One of my friends said her omelette had an "obscene" amount of butter, and another friend ordered the special meat pie only to find that her entire meal was about the size of a sand dollar. Service was also disappointing -- we had to wait forever for our bill, for ketchup, and for attention in general. But my meal was so good that I'll give it a pass this time. Maybe they were just swamped that day?
The bottom line for brunch at 5Church is this: Expect good food, but don't expect a huge meal unless you order a few items, and be prepared for a long meal because service ain't speedy.
