Yorkdale has become the place where the pretty people shop.
When I lived in the area, this used to by 'my mall' however, back in those days, it wasn't nearly as pretentious as it is now.
It's easy to be distracted by the shiny stores such as Holt Renfrew, Louis Vuitton, Rolex, Cartier and Tiffany & Co. but it tends to leave the other stores standing it their shadows and somewhat out of place.
I don't think it would be so bad if these higher end stores were speckled throughout the mall but they all seem to be in one area leaving the impression of... 'you people can shop here... and you people... yes you, you know who you are... you go shop over there'.
It's so hard to give this mall a rating because it's definitely a:
5-star because it truly is a beautiful mall and a shopping 'experience'; a
4-star because you don't have to go downtown to get to the higher end stores; a
3-star because it still does have some of the staple stores that are practical; a
2-star because it's a little pricer than other malls; and finally a
1-star because some of the people who work here really need to be reminded that they work in retail and to drop the attitudes.
I wonder if Yorkdale will adopt a dress code similar to that of Harrods'. Hmmm.
