I want to first say that I Cirque Du Soleil. I see every show that comes to town, and I have seen most of the traveling shows. This is one of the few Cirque resident shows that I have seen. With that being said, I liked it... But there have been much better.
The set design in the theater was cool and had a bit of a steampunk vibe to it. The stage rotated and made some scenes extraordinarily cool.
I had a little trouble following the storyline. Most cirque shows have a loose plot line or theme, but I usually can follow along. This one I had a little trouble and couldn't tell some characters apart from our seats. We had pretty good seats as well. I expected more acrobatics or performances. I feel like other shows have more.
Now that I look back on the show,
I think they relied on the motion of the floor for some of the cool acts and that should be recognized as an aerial stunt more than just a cool scene. The chase and battle scene were awesome scenes and visually very cool. At the time though I didn't recognize them as performances like a circus, I viewed it as choreography. These had a lot of skill and should be given the credit that they deserve, but at the time I was left feeling the show was a little lacking outside of those scenes.
Was it good? Yes. Did I expect more from a Cirque du Soleil show? Yes.
