| - Let it be known that I am extremely fussy when it comes to my cupcakes.
Also a few things should probably be taken into consideration regarding my review. 1 - I was in Greektown, so suffice to say I had just gorged myself on a completely inhuman amount of food and 2 - it was very late and so everything we got had probably been sitting out for quite some time by that point.
Still, it wasn't sitting out in the open air, it was in a pastry case, so I'm only giving you so much leeway.
I ordered 1 vanilla and 1 carrot cupcake. Both looked impeccable, the carrot with it's cream cheese icing and miniature carrot on top was so cute I didn't want to eat it - and perhaps would have been better off if I had not. It was dry and the carrots didn't seem to be fully grated, it had chunks of carrot. Maybe some people like it that way, but I want my cupcake to be soft as a cloud and melt in my mouth with minimal chewing required.
The vanilla was better on the cupcake aspect, but the icing was hardly edible. It was very dry, to the point of being almost crystalized (possibly due to the aforementioned late hour of the day).
If I'm in the area again sometime earlier in the day I might stop in and give them a second chance. Or try the "best apple pie" someone else mentioned in their review. But, for now, Sweettooth is not somewhere I'm going to go out of my way to fulfill my cupcake cravings.
