| - I have always wondered if there is a rivalry between Kribel's and Party Cake Bakery.
Overall, I have a slight preference towards Party Cake, but it would be a good fight y'know? Like The Hulk vs. The Thing. The Hulk always wins, but The Thing always holds his own.
I do think their cakes are just slightly better than Party Cake's, and its all in that rich icing. You've got to try the Magic Mountains which are mini-cakes with chocolate batter. white frosting, and jimmies!
Yes, everything has a name, and nothing is labeled. You're expected to know also. Ask and they'll roll their eyes and serve ya like a record store clerk would. I kid the music nerds.
They even carry off-the-wall stuff like elephant ears, the aforementioned Magic Mountains and all sorts of other things you've never seen before, things they made up, things even Party Cake doesn't have, all of it being nothing less than delectable. Like Party Cake down the street, dare yourself to not get something.
One scoop Kribel's definitely has on Party Cake are the cannoli.
Best. Cannoli. EVER! The filling is actually sweet, and the ends are dipped in nuts, jimmes, and chocolate chips. Bite into one, and feel the crunch against your teeth as the creamy, slightly tangy flavor seduces your taste buds. If you get one thing at Kribel's, get some cannoli. I beg you. Think of an ice cream cone filled with the kind of cream cheese frosting that would ice a carrot or red velvet cake.
I never even LIKED cannoli until I tried Kribel's, and I won't eat anyone else's.
Oh, they have better hours than Party Cake also, so you can stop after work.
