My family and I went to the show last night. It was terrific to see what could be done with lanterns, plates, and recycled bottles and cans! We enjoyed the acrobat show and the walk through the park to view the different areas of the world. We especially enjoyed the dinosaur exhibits. Very good program.
The reason they only received 3 stars had to do with several things: 1) My parents are in wheelchairs and while they had a handicapped area set aside, it was not clearly marked and when I received directions at the gate to "take the first left", that was not the case. You had to do a loop around to get to the area and then it was all large gravel to the opening in the fence. We had to go back on the road with the wheelchairs to get down to admission. It was a poor set-up. 2) There was a $10 charge for parking which is not understandable at all considering the price of the tickets. Parking should be free for the event. 3) Everything inside to purchase in the way of food and souvenirs was TOO EXPENSIVE! It would have been nice to sample some of the items there for food but they were all way above what we would have paid. The food and other things to buy were higher than even the fair! We did need something to drink and paid $19.50 for 2 cups of coffee, 2 cups of hot chocolate, and 1 bottled water (which the brand came from COSTCO).
It was fun to see the lanterns and what was done with the lights but I don't believe we would go back if they came to the area again.
