  • Orangetheory is a challenging full body workout that combines cardio and weight training. You'll get a little bit of endurance and strength training. You'll strap a heart rate monitor to your chest to keep tabs of your training zone throughout the class. The concept is simple: Do your best to stay within "Orange" heart rate zone. Your 'zone' will be displayed on a visible monitor and will help you keep tabs on where you are at with each exercise. They will even email your class results to you. It's rad. The class is split into two halves. One half is doing cardio. The other half is doing strength training. They say the workout changes everyday to keep it fresh. Our class was a mix of treadmill, rowing, and weight lifting. I liked the fact that you can customize it to make it more challenging or lighter based on your own individual fitness level. You can walk on an incline or run on the treadmill. You have the ability to pick what works for you. Just be sure to keep in the "Orange" zone throughout the class. We both loved our Orangetheory class. We would've signed up for a membership if it was closer to where we live (NW side of town). We loved that we could do this workout together. We both were challenged at our own fitness levels. There was a good mixture of men and women of all shapes and sizes - you'll fit in. Personally, I like the concept of checking the monitor. I can always look up and see if I need to push harder or lighten up. I'm competitive and I liked the challenge to keep working hard throughout the class. Bonus: Your 1st session is free. Give them a call and register for a class. You've got nothing to lose (but calories). Quick Tips: A) Reserve your class online/call ahead. B) They will provide your HR Monitor for your trial class. After that, you will have to buy it. C) The workouts will always change. However, you will always being doing some version of a warm-up, cardio, weight training and cool-down. D) Bring a bottle water with you. You're going to need it. E) Arrive early for your 1st class. The class instructor will bring you into class ahead of time and show you the ropes and equipment. It's helpful. F) Be prepared to burn a ton of calories. They estimate that you will burn between 450 - 700 calories a class. My husband burned upwards of 750 calories. I ended up burning 600 calories. G) Go in with an open mind and have fun! Yelp Review #8 2016
