| - I can't stop thinking about how wonderful this hotel is. From its people (who always are the ones who make or break a business) to its fine location in Old Montreal and the over the top service we encountered by absolutely everyone.
I arrived to the hotel with my mother at around midnight on Monday, July 11th and, from that moment, our stay was magical. Upon our arrival and before we even got out of the taxi, we were warmly greeted by many members of the hotel's staff.
After registering, we were given a short tour and walked to the elevator that would lead us to our room. My reservation consisted of a simple room with a queen size bed that Mom and I would share. We entered the room and realized it was much more than a room as we walked through the huge, well-appointed space. This was a beautiful "suite" with a separate living/dining area, office space, powder room. I called the front desk to make sure this was not a mistake and I was told we were given 3 upgrades... just because. So, for starters, our trip began on a fantastic note.
Although small and cozy, the hotel is comprised of three towers. These beautiful 19th-century neoclassical buildings are across the street from the Notre-Dame Basilica and Place D'Armes, and steps from the Old Port. At the end of our visit, we realized we could have not selected a better location than this one.
Jose Martinez, one of the hotel's Concierges, assisted us from day one in planning our trip as this was our first time to Montreal. He recommended fabulous restaurants and gave us hints as to where to go and a smart way of doing it. The most important thing: He did it ALWAYS with a smile on his face. Jose, we didn't get to say goodbye in person, but want you to know that you helped me show my mom a really good time. Thank you! Merci! Gracias! de parte mia y de mi mama Diana.
I was so impressed as I realized that most of the hotel's staff spoke at least two languages. In our case, Mom lives in Chile and only spoke Spanish and I live in the US and spoke both Spanish and English. But it was so refreshing for my Mom to be able to communicate in Spanish without me having to translate all the time.
The hotel has some wonderful restaurants (and we visited them all!). Suite 701 has an exquisite menu and clever cocktails and a DJ. Very laid back yet elegant.
Kyo Bar is one of the best Japanese food I've ever tried and the atmosphere... oh so inviting!
The hotel also has a rooftop bar that is absolutely amazing. This was a bit too loud and crowded for Mom at nights but I was told that during the day it is much more pleasant. We didn't get to try it as time was limited. What a view.
We left the hotel to go to the airport on Saturday, July 16th at around 6AM. The hotel gave us a wake up call as instructed and the bell man was at our door before we even had to call for assistance with our bags.
I wish we the name of every staff member that assisted us and made our stay unforgettable. Thank you so very much to everyone at the hotel and the hotel's restaurants for everything. Unforgettable stay.
