| - Although I still pine for my beloved Wegman's, being close enough to the Settler's Ridge Market District to shop there once a month or so definitely takes the sting out of being out of Wegman's territory.
It's hard to pinpoint a "favorite" thing about this store. The produce section has no rival, it is exceptionally large, with an excellent selection of well-handled and perfectly maintained produce.
I also love the fish & seafood department, and the service you get in that department is truly exemplary. Since I drive about a half an hour to get home from Market District when I go, they are happy to pack my fresh fish purchases in a cooler bag with ice. Without that courtesy, I would not be able to buy fresh fish and seafood from them.
The meat department is another shining star. They have a wonderful selection of fresh meats and very helpful staff. Not only do they have a wide variety of meats available, but everything in their meat case is of very good quality.
This brings us to the cheese department, which is mostly wonderful, but about which I have one complaint. They never resumed carrying mimolette, which I think is a terrible shame. I asked them if they would be getting any in or if they knew if they could order some and they were very unhelpful. Mimolette is my very favorite cheese, and I alone would probably buy enough to make it worth their while to carry it.
Their classes and events are very well organized and very fun, and I highly recommend checking their calendar to see if there is anything that interests you.
Plus, as a mom, it is just very easy to shop in this store. Clean bathrooms with changing tables, clean carts, and a hot food section where I can grab us a little pizza and some vegetables for lunch or dinner before we shop makes for a very pleasant grocery shopping experience. OK, there is one more small complaint. The high chairs upstairs are always gross. We don't even use them, because a wipe-down with our little Johnson & Johnson germ-killing wipe just isn't going to cut it. These things have some sort of impenetrable, sticky residue on them, that, as far as I can tell, will require a massive feat of alchemy to remove.
Other than their bizarre hatred for Mimolette and the gross high chairs, I've got nothing but love for this store.
