| - This is actually my first nail salon visit in Toronto cause I never do my nails when I'm home. I usually get my nails done when I travel or just do it myself. Lol.
Anyways, waited a bit to do this review to see how my nails faired. I got my nails done last Tuesday around 5:30pm and I have to say this place is PACKED! Based on Yelp reviews I kinda didn't even want to go here. But I gave them the benefit of the doubt because one of my friends (whom I've known for years) told me she has done her nails here a couple of times already with no issues, assuring me it would be fine.
So I went with just a hint of trepidation. They don't do bookings, only walk-ins. I had the mani & pedi combo ($35). Salon was was full but we didn't wait long. I think we were lucky and some ppl were just finishing up. We just went over to the nail polish shelf at the back and selected our colours. Maybe took us a few minutes and already they called us over to have a seat. Side by side as well. So it was nice that we weren't separated.
They have massage chairs but the buttons are all broken so it's a bit of a guessing game on what is what. Took me a while to find a comfortable setting. I also noticed my side tables still had fake nail clippings from the previous customer (gross) but I tried to ignore that and continue on. Lol. My nail technician was quiet but efficient and did my mani and pedi. For pedi, she did some light massaging on my legs and scraped the bottom of my feet well enough. No problems there. There was another option of cutting or razor? But I'm wary of that. lol. For hands, one was soaked in water and another wasn't, which I thought was weird but just let her do her thing. I did think she could have filed and buffed my nails a little to make sure polish was more evenly applied for my mani tho. Also, I spotted a little hair or fibre thread on my pinky of left hand. That was a bit careless of her. After it was finished, she gave me foldable foam slippers to put on and take myself to a little corner where I could stick my feet and hands in these air dryers. She was nice enough to bring all my stuff over there for me.
Overall, I say this salon is just OK. My nails lasted for 6-7 days. Cost $35 to do a mani & pedi in 1 hour. Don't expect deep leg massages or really great service. It has almost like a nail express bar vibe. Further improvements could be made. Their massage chair remote device needs to be fixed and they need to update their nail polishes. Some polishes were obviously waaaayy past expiry date and old. Like polish was separating old. If you aren't confident you will like what they have, bring your own polish.
In conclusion, will I come back again? Unlikely. But if I was really on a budget...maybe? I think there are better salons out there though.
