| - Chris Bianco has the Midas touch.
Pane is one of my favorite spots in town.
I love Bianco pizza, so in the evening, this place can satiate my continual need for his pizza. It's usually never packed, and they have always have a good tap going for the 5 beers they can accommodate.
The sandwiches here are as close to authentic as I have ever had stateside. In fact, the first time I ate here, I got the Sopressata, and it triggered a deep laden memory of a sandwich I had in Rome. It was the same memory trigger like you have when some smell causes it. It stopped me right in my tracks, as, I expected it to be good, but I didn't expect it to be so spot on it would cause that.
Since then I have tried everything in the daily rotation and many of the special offerings and have never been dissatisfied... ever.
The food exudes perfection in simplicity and craftsmanship. The ingredients are top notch and nothing is cluttered or haphazard.
Did I mention I ate the best meatball I have ever had here? Well, I did.
A lot of the items are cross-pollinated between here and his pizza spots, especially on the dinner menu, which serves all the pizzas available at the other locations, so get a Margherita and a Rosa if you desire, you won't be disappointing.
Even the simplest things here are swinging for the fences. I could subside on the bread and olive oil alone much like Paul the Baptist did on locusts and wild honey, with beer of course!
The Mozzarella here will ruin any other fresh Mozzarella you have had. It's salt content is in the money zone, and being made fresh daily, the milky lusciousness of it is unmatched.
Pro-tip:
Depending on the time of day they will sell you a ball of the Mozzarella... Do it!
Anytime I think about where I should eat and I am within 5 miles of here, I have trouble fighting it off with any other option.
Do yourself a favor and go here.
