I had my daughter in a ballet class last year and we came in late in the season. I believe it was sometime in January and classes ended around the 1st week in June. Right off the bat I was asked if I wanted my daughter in the upcoming June recital. I declined because she was just starting and wouldn't have had the months of practice the other girls had. I didn't feel she would have been as prepared as she would have been if she had started with everyone else. This was her first class ever, I wasn't even sure she would like it. Well, I was constantly asked. A few times by the owner and once by the instructor who sent me an email explaining why they felt my daughter would do great. I felt really pressured, and got the impression that they were only interested in the money it would have cost had I said yes. The class itself was good. The teachers she had seemed nice and helpful with the all the girls when teaching certain moves and positions, but frankly I never felt 100% comfortable there. I moved her to a different studio in the fall and she's loving it.
