| - Where do I start...first of all we booked a basic king bed room and given a room that was the size of a closet (350sqft). I was embarrassed the MGM even has rooms this small and this poorly designed. If I saw a picture or sqft on the site I would never have accepted this but I guess everybody these days, even a resort as classy as the MGM tries to pull a fast one over.
Moving on from the actual hedious accommodations from the first room we went down to ask for another regular person room that was bigger than a closet, (we stayed Tue Wed Thurs night so it was like we were taking up prime time weekend rooms), I mean the original room didn't even have a wall seperating the bathroom and shower from the bedroom. We were told for a $35 fee per night we could move from our jail cell room to a respectable room of 440sqft. So mind you there is the original room charge, then the upgraded $35 per night upgrade, then the resort fee of $35 per night, THEN the wonderful $25 parking fee per night, and tax added an undisclosed $100 per night charge on top of what we booked the room for. Classic bait and switch by the MGM and they should be very ashamed of themselves. And the worst part is the parking fee just takes money away from me tipping the valet and bellman and taxi service attendant more. And I made sure to let them know that instead of a $5 tip every time I used there service they got $1, and they should be ashamed and pissed also about MGMs greediness.
So we get into our upgraded by 100sqft room from our jail cell of 350sqft to 440sqft and set or luggage down and what do we see...dirty clothes and socks in the room, candy wrappers on the floor, and outlets that don't work. Just couldn't catch a break with this place. But hey we weren't in prison anymore so mgm made us feel better about being in a dirty room vs. a clean room that you can see your cellmate taking a deuce. And when did they only give two full size shower towels? Had to call down to the front desk and call up more towels.
One of the main reasons we stayed at the mgm Grand was due to the fact I've been here before and the pools and pool scene has always been excellent. We were actually going to stay at the Monte Carlo but we heard they had done construction on the pool and we weren't certain how or when there pool would be open or work out. Well well well as to our amazement and too add on to our horrible stay at the MGMGrand there lazy river pool was under construction without us knowing. Once again MGM grands bait and switch routine at work. Rather than be honest with there guest they would rather hide facts. Should be ashamed and embarrassed. So having the lazy river under construction caused all those people and people with kids to take up seats that weren't going to be actually used at adjacent pools so finding seating was nearly impossible, plus the MGM didn't have any staff walking around clearing unused seats with dirty towels on them so new guests could sit down. Didn't see a one. But what I did see and hear was life guards blowing the dumb whistles every five seconds at guests cause they were too lazy to get down from there chair and tell all the unmannered children to either stop horseing around or stop touching the swim lane buoys or stop stacking float tubes( and why would they even allow tubes in the pools anyways cause they never had but I guess even though the lazy river was down they still wanted to make money and Bait n Switch there guests again) or the kids running on the concrete or jumping in the pool...the pool scene was a complete joke. Trying to relax with my wife and it was like I was at the old Wet-n-Wild.
Hecho en Las Vegas was really good, with good food and with excellent service but that was about it.
At the end of the day the MGM Grand was a complete disappointment on every level and everybody involved should be ashamed and disappointed. It's a sad day when we book a stay and mgm will be grouped with options like Harrahs, Rio, Excalibur, Tropicana, SLS, and the Imperial Palace if it was still there (now the Linq)
