| - I've recently been getting involved with the more progressive folks in my neighborhood. I've lived in Bellevue for five years, and after our last election nightmare, really paid attention to who was progressive out of the candidates, and rallied behind them to get the vote out. After the election was over and we were all clumped together on a Facebook page, I suggested that we do a monthly potluck to actually get to know each other face to face. Up until this, I only knew three immediate neighbors. I wanted to know which of my neighbors in the 'bigger' neighborhood...weren't scary.
The suggestion came up to ask Jeremy at Cyclops to host the event, where our new Mayor had held a drag bingo fundraiser. Jeremy agreed, and is now our gracious and very cool monthly host.
I'm not really a coffee-house hanger type, but I AM a major coffee whore...and it had BETTER be good if I'm going to be paying for it.
I have had some really pretentious cups of brown nastiness since returning to Pittsburgh from Miami. Latinos KNOW what to do with roasted brown beans. White folks in the Northeast...usually not so much. They prefer their tea-ffee, or 'water dressed in brown' over anything with strength, body and flavor.
Turns out, Jeremy is a very decent and cool human, with a very progressive vibed business, who is open to welcoming all varieties of humanity to gather in his space. AND...the boy knows how to make an espresso RIGHT! No burnt or sour taste. Good, smooth and strong with good body.
If I'm there for an event, he gets my bucks.
And it's a good gathering spot for artists and thinkers.
One more step UP for Bellevue!
