rev:text	This place is a huge scam. Do not let them take advantage of you like they have us. My mom moved here after her stoke about a year ago was told that she was fine although her care level would be quite higher then they're used to and that it wouldn't be a problem at all... or so we thought. Keep in mind they are a retirement home and NOT a care facility AT ALL! Expect to be charged and the resident sent to another facility hospital or elsewhere ANY time there's a problem if your loved one is not fully independent and even if they are DO NOT send them here they won't thrive this place only cares about money and sees the people who stay with them as paychecks and numbers bothering more! They can and will charge for EVERYTHING and find a way to make the resident leave so they can keep the association fee they get which is 2500 and is a one time fee so you can "move her anywhere that is a Brookdale one in the country " I paid this fee being as I have to move to another state soon and considered that Mom may move with us but being as her level of care is now "too high " she's not able to come back here or any other Brookdale and quite honestly after this I wouldn't want to. She had a friend here too who was kicked out as well with various charges to his account being as he stayed a day over on his rent when moving and he was charged the entire month fee he was told because he was bipolar he wasn't able to stay because they couldn't care for him anymore. I know this is false because to this day I'm told how "slimy" he was by staff regardless if I liked him or not ( he was a bad influence on my mom) and how they basically were looking for an excuse to kick him out as well. In the process of her year stay here I've seen 8 different directors come and go and it seems like every time I come to visit my mom at least once a month there's a new medical tech or someone who I have never met before when she was staying here. They can and will clean house and leave you with less than a week to move out your family member. Speaking of moving I originally had my mom in one of their studios which was costing me $3200 a month then decided so that she would be happy that I would move her to the largest room on the property which at the time apparently her level of care was just fine at a cost of $6000 a month then because she was supposedly smoking in her room I was told that she needed to leave and her level of care was too high and that if she was ever caught smoking one more cigarette in her room she would be evicted immediately. So regardless of her level of care and her weight I would have been having to be in the situation no matter what. While I was moving her out there lovely new director came into the room to show a potential new renter the room with a huge smirk on her face I made her leave because I thought that was one of the rudest things that I have EVER seen!! I mean my mom wasn't even supposed to be scheduled to move out until the first but I got her moved out of here as fast as I could being as I didn't want to be charged a prorated rate. This place should be ashamed of themselves taking advantage of the elderly and of people and financial situations when they can. The only positive thing that came about her stay here was that there were a couple people that actually did care about her and I got some great resources. I am happy to say that today I've moved my mom out and into a beautiful new care home where I imagine she will be happy at. They can and will toss out your loved one and charge and fine you for everything. When I wanted help at the end to get moved I was told that once again there was a fine for that at $40 an hour I also wanted them to simply remove some heavy furniture out of the room and was told that they would probably charge me again I signed a piece of paper to make sure that they wouldn't let's hope I don't get any mysterious charges to my moms bank account. This place is very nice some of the people have been nice to me but at a rate of $6000 a month and not knowing when and if you will be kicked out and the fact that they charge for everything there's other places in town that doesn't practice predatory activities on the elderly you have been warned you have a choice make the right one because you only get to make it once.
