I would give Monta Chaya's ramen 3 stars originally but I had to knock it down to 2 stars due to a horrible customer service experience.
I've been to Monta Chaya quite a few times throughout the year and the ramen is decent to fill a craving when you're in Henderson. I've tried the Tonkatsu and Tonkatsu-Shoyu ramen. The broth is thicker than I would like but the noodles and hard-boiled egg were decent. The Chashu pork is tender but has a little too much fat unfortunately. I've also tried the Takana Fried Rice but I preferred the regular Fried Rice more! The Takana Fried Rice left me with a strange after taste. The price for the ramen is reasonable, starting at ~$7.
The service time to get the food is a bit slow but for some reason, it always takes a while to pay my check (10-15 minutes) even when actively asking the waitress for the check. The lack of customer service at Asian restaurants doesn't bother me usually but my last visit at Monta Chaya was just ridiculous.
My boyfriend and I were waiting at least 15 minutes for our check that never came and we had to walk up to the front desk to see what was going on. We found out - not through the employees - but from another customer that the waiter accidentally switched our credit cards and charged us for the wrong orders. None of the employees really explained to us what happened. After standing and waiting another 10 minutes for our refund and correct check, we had to ask for the receipt of the refunded charge. We pretty much were left hanging for another 10 minutes, asked for our receipt yet again, only to see that the manager was continuing to work on other table's checks. So he was fine making us wait even longer despite making a charging error and making us wait for so long already! We ended up just giving up and walking out since it was clear they weren't going to help us any time soon.
TLDR: Ramen is average but the bill was charged wrong and ended up having to wait 35 minutes for our check and a receipt that we never got.
The poor customer service we received makes us shudder at the idea of going back and experiencing it again.
