  • Read mostly all the reviews, this company is a scam. Protect yourself. This company is a racket with the warranty company. They know the contract and they know what they can charge you, believe me, its a rip off. I read all the reviews and still let them come out, because I called the warranty company and they eased me down, which is what they do too. I fell victim to AHS again (and now APC) by having them send out their "top tier" technicians to my home when my water heater failed. Sheldon looked at the water heater for about 15 seconds and deduced that it needs over $450 of modifications for them to install. Which mind you, they are getting paid for the installation. These "modifications" include welding and either lengthening or shortening the stack. That's a MODIFICATION to APC, a MODIFICATION! I cannot elaborate that enough. No dumb-dumbs, that's called installing. Not sure how he could come up with this price if he hasn't even seen the new water heater, be he's the "professional", right? So I first called to inquire about these modifications, which is what APC kept calling them, come to find out, that is exactly the term on the contract for "Non-covered repairs". How does APC know my contract so intimately? Anyway, my first call was with a very rude and bossy lady, not sure her name, but she says these are all fixed prices and that they don't make any money off the install so they have to charge... can you believe that? Just admits that these are false charges so they get more money... Called again, second lady says they are not fixed and vary, she was also pushy and nasty. They are probably tired of people calling and complaining all day about the unethical method of business that APC and Athena Plumbing conduct. So as far as I am concerned, they don't care if they get the business because the master technician Sheldon made $100 to come out and write a quote in about 15 seconds. So my resolution was to get the Cash-In-Lieu from AHS which was a total jerk-off amount. $527 to be paid to me so that I can foot the bill on a new water heater, install, and disposal. I made it work tho. Found a unit on sale at Lowe's. Called Kirk from Mustang Plumbing for the install. It just blows my mind, that APC wants $450 for "mods" while AHS will only fork over $527 for the complete job. Just out of this world that these companies are allowed to operate this way. At the end of the day AHS will only soften the blow of your appliance failures and these companies (like APC) known they can up-charge unethically. Bottom line, if you really like getting your A$$ reamed by crap companies and getting your money stolen, go with APC; they are for you!
