| - I would give them a four-star for their nurses and doctors, but their billing department is a joke.
We've had 3 of our children at Dignity hospitals, two at this one, but this recent experience was ridiculous. Anyone that has gone through the process of paying a medical bill as big as a c-section birth can tell you that it often takes months for insurance and hospitals to settle the payments and then bill the patient (3-4 months in both other cases). This time my daughter was born in December, and I have been on the lookout for our bill since March, ready for it to come.
March passed, then April, and now we're at the tail end of May and we received our bill... from a collections agency? That's right, directly from a collections agency.
We called Mercy Gilbert today and they acknowledged that they had the wrong zip code on file and had received our statements in their returned mail since January, but made no effort to reach out and confirm the address.
What kind of lazy practice is this? We confirmed the proper address was input by hand, but they misread my handwriting when I corrected it on the intake paperwork (that I completed at 2am when my wife was actively in labor, well done.). They make NO effort to rectify their billing mistakes and you should avoid this hospital unless you like to deal with shady billing practices.
