| - I'm a big believer in supporting local and or independent businesses. So now that I am moving out of the city, but staying in the GTA, I thought I would try and support a local moving company.
I found Rent a Buddy here on Yelp. I read all the reviews, recommended and not. Some people thought that the company was making up reviews but I didn't let that affect my decision to call them them. Well I should have because after sending an email through their online quote system and a few days later, leaving a voice mail describing the move (small one bedroom mid month) I received absolutely no communication from them.
I understand that they maybe a small operation and with the end of the month here, they may have been busy but as a business person myself, nothing screams unprofessional as no response at all. Send an email stating you will be in touch at a later date, or a phone message stating the same. I was really really disappointed with their lack of professionalism with no call or email back.
I was discussing the situation with a neighbour and they stated that maybe because I had stated in my email and message that it was a small move, they weren't interested. Who knows. All I know is I double checked my email junk mail folder in case a response was filtered there and my voice mails but nothing. Rent a Buddy, in the future take time to call a customer, whether you end up taking/getting the job or not. I personally have gone with a not local bigger company because even though they are big, they took the time to contact me back. Customer service and positive word of mouth start with that first contact and in my opinion, people shouldn't have to chase down your business and clearly you don't need it.
