  • Went to Hurts Donut at around 9:45am on a Thursday. There was a line not quite out the door (thankfully, as it was cold and we brought our 2 small kids). It took probably 20 minutes to get through the line and sit down to eat. That surprised me, because it really shouldn't take that long. The case of donuts is right there... even if people are indecisive, it shouldn't take very long to load up a box of donuts. But more on that in a minute. The donuts themselves are fancy schmancy crazy concoctions. I ate half of one and had gut rot. I tried the plain donut under all the toppings and thought it was actually kind of terrible - but maybe that's by design? Or maybe my mouth was freaking out from the sugar rush? In any case, I'd recommend eating your donut with toppings in every bite. Now back to how long it took. There were 3 employees filling boxes and 1 employee taking payments. It would go a lot faster if they invested in another register / iPad thing to use during high volume times. It would also help if they had a board explaining what each donut was. They charge $12 for a dozen donuts they choose, or $15 for a dozen donuts the customer chooses. I'd be way more likely to pay an extra $3 if I actually knew what I was choosing. With a longer line we felt pressure to go quickly (not from staff, just merely in an attempt to be courteous), so we didn't want to ask what everything was and hold things up. We figured it didn't matter if we chose or they chose since it's not like we knew what each donut was, anyway. 4 stars as I felt like it could have taken less time (though 20 minutes isn't terrible), and because honestly I think the donuts were a bit much. It's a nice novelty place.
