  • I'm a bit split on the W Burger Bar, and I ascribe most of that to my decision to get takeout - but more on that later. Walking in, this is quite a nice place. Clean design, TVs, music playing - very nice indeed. Staff is incredibly friendly, and as you sit down with a menu - even if just to order takeout - veggies and dip are served. Sweet. The gourmet burger shop is a new experience for me, so I'm not used to variety - beef AND bison? Kobe beef? THREE kinds of Poutine??! What luxury! I went with the Bison burger for my friend and I, with a 50/50 order of fries and a Quebecoise poutine, all for takeout. This is where the story falls apart. It's a bit of a distance heading back to my friend's place (Spadina and Bremner / Fort York), and sadly the fries and poutine really didn't make it. I mean, the box made it there, but the soul was gone. Mushy, lukewarm and not overly tasty at that point. Burgers were very tasty, though. I think the key takeaway here is, uh, don't do takeaway - at least not for longish distances, and *certainly* not with potato-based sides. Disappointment will surely ensue. Having said that, I will be coming back at some point in the near future, and I will be eating in the lovely restaurant this time to give 'em a fair shake. The burger definitely left an impression on me.
