WATCH OUT FOR THIS ONE
I took a week or so before I wrote this review to
#1 get my thoughts together after being treated so poorly
#2 to give the company a chance to make right
#3 took time to research Angies list for comments from their customers and their responses.
Within the companies responses is where I found the problem I had experienced. All of their responses to complaints is to take the defensive and be critical of the customers as being a fake customer or competitor. They never take accountability or offer a resolution, and this is in writing!
As executrix of my fathers estate since his death in July, I am responsible for his properties. On 2/16/16 a pipe busted in his home which was being remodeled. We called Matt Mertz Plumbing and made arrangements to meet a plumber at my dad's home on 2/19/16 at 3:30pm. The plumber arrived 20 mins late saying he was stuck in traffic.
Once he arrived he efficiently completed his job and said he needed paid $210. My sister whom had opened the door for him told him that since it was an estate I would need to come from my home in Penn Hills (5-8 mins away) to bring the check, he said he would wait. When I arrived the bill was $260 because he had to wait for me to come over. I have the phone call logs and it shows he waited 12 mins. He never told me that he was charging $50 for waiting for the check.
When I called to complain I got the same attitudes as were displayed in their Yelp replys..aggressive and defensive which makes me believe the complaints even more. Calling the reviewers..their customers liars, instead of addressing the problem. If they were insightful enough they would address the issues and resolve the problem. The 2 owners I spoke with both said it was their policy to charge by the time they are there, I thought it was for the time they worked, not waiting for payment. So if nothing else I want everyone to know that this company will charge you $50 for 12 mins while they are waiting for their payment of $210..25%!
It was okay for him to be late and make us wait but waiting 12 mins for payment and charging $50, without letting me know that he was going to charge me $50.
This even scares me more of how they handle business.
Good service is not only the quality of the work but the attitude in which it is done and the honesty it is carried out with.
