Where do I start with this place? First of all, we have been visiting Oyshi for 3-4 years now and have had ours ups and downs. When the owner is not around, the place goes haywire. I will say the quality of food is usually pretty good and when the heavier gentleman is behind the sushi bar, we are treated phenomenally. This is where it ends. There is zero consistency. This evening we arrived around 11:30 PM. There were 6-8 tables seated as well as about 6 people at the sushi bar. We opted to sit at the bar. There were 2 sushi chefs for the entire restaurant so we already assumed the wait time on food would be a bit slow but being that it was so late at night this wasn't a problem. What was a problem was the HORRIBLE service we received. There was a group of what seemed to be off duty employees sitting in the back portion of the bar drinking. The chefs were going over to that side at least every 5 minutes, taking shots and conversing, as tickets sat in front of them. At one point one of the servers had to go through the kitchen and behind the bar to ask a chef for extra sauce. The woman who took our order came back once after 10 minutes and once more after about 25. We placed our order with another server who did not write anything down and alas, forgot 3 of the 4 items we ordered. At this point, visibly bothered, one of the chefs told us to order any sushi through him, which we did. That too was forgotten. We could not even enjoy the $60 dinner we paid for and rushed out of there as to flee a very uncomfortable situation. Unfortunately I think it is time to find a new neighborhood sushi spot as this place clearly allows their employees to run the show which shows in their service.
