My best friend is getting married. After going to a bunch of boutiques downtown we decided to give David's Bridal a try. Wow - cannot explain how unimpressed I am with this place. It completely encapsulates everything that is wrong with the wedding industry.
First, they get you to fill out a form and throw a book at you, ask for you to "pick out your top 5 gowns". We thought this was just for guidance, but no -- they actually were planning only on pulling the 5 random gowns. They never asked my friend what silhouette she was looking for and we really didn't feel comfortable walking around the store and picking stuff out, because no one else was.
Then, while we waited at the front for the consultant a woman from Moore's starts to push Moore's suiting for your groom.
All the dresses my friend tried on had low quality fabrics and for the price, you could spend as little as $300 more and get a way more beautiful dress that is better quality.
Our consultant was wonderfully nice and that is the only reason why I'm even giving a star. She was kind and helpful and could tell we were unimpressed with their merchandise. Also, when you say yes to the dress they make you ring a bell. I felt like I was 14 and it was birthday time at Jack Astor's or something.
If you're planning on starting shopping for the big day, go here first before getting to the boutiques. In the end, we called another place and they were having a trunk sale. the dresses were stunning and in many instance only $200 more for something WAY more unique.
