  • So why in the world would I drive 16.6 miles to get a regular mani/pedi when I can find at least 10 salons within a mile radius from my house? Groupon, of course! My best friend and I were supposed to get our nails done here before her wedding. We spontaneously showed up (as we do at other salons) and were told that they were completely booked for the day and would need to make an appointment. We ended up going elsewhere because we had to leave town the next day. I kept this in mind and made my appointment to redeem my mani/pedi. Service is great here. They offered water, tea or coffee before you start getting pampered. I chose coffee and they told me they had different coffee creamers as well. I thought that was a thoughtful touch. My nail technician was Megan. She is incredibly sweet yet a little shy. But once you get her talking, she is definitely a pleasure. As awesome as Megan was, the final outcome of my nails were not even close. First off, their selection of colors are very limited. I've never seen such a small selection of colors at any salon. But to their defense, they did have the perfect silver glitter that I was looking for. Megan did a decent job of taming my cuticles and clipping my nails to the perfect length. I wasn't too excited on the paint job, however. On my toes and my fingers, the edges looked quite jagged. I didn't really notice this until I left the salon. On top of that, the glitter polish on one nail completely came off later on that day. I was really upset because this meant that I'd have to drive another 16.6 miles to get a single nail fixed! Furthermore, I was taking a shower that night and another nail started to chip while I was shampooing my hair. Really? I know I can get a tad clumsy at times, but my nails not lasting even 12 hours is completely unacceptable. I went back the next day to get my nail fixed. Although Megan wasn't there, another technician happily assisted me and got my one nail into tip top shape. She was very nice and patient. But lets be honest. You can have a salon full of the nicest people in the world, but if the work isn't up to par then people (such as myself) most likely won't be back. Needless to say, I wasn't very happy about driving nearly 68 miles total for a set of nails. At almost $4/gallon for gas, I probably could have gone elsewhere down the street from my house and would have spent the same money I did at Vogue (Groupon + gas) for way better quality!
