  • Vanguard Viega Manobloc Manoblock Manifold Rebuild (listed as such for search purposes) After calling several (7-10) high rated plumbers on Yelp, my last call was Oasis Plumbing. I am very glad that we selected Oasis Plumbing. Their prices were very competitive for this job. Their tech, Max, was personable and professional. What really impressed me though is the fact that they gave me alternative options. I initially called to request a quote to replace my existing manobloc because it showed signs of leaking at the top and bottom. See the OLD pic and you will see what I am talking about. Even though it was not currently leaking at the time of my call. It was definitely indicated that a repair or replacement was needed. With Manoblocs, you have to special order a custom built unit because you can't just replace parts of it. This can take from 1-3 weeks. You have to replace the whole unit at a cost range of $1500 to $3000 depending on who you ask. The new unit itself is only about $500-700. I checked directly with a plumbing supply company to see how much a replacement unit cost before I started calling plumbers. The rest is labor and other parts from an experienced plumber. With the other plumbers, I got my quote and there were no other options offered. Oasis Plumbing offered not 1, not 2, but 3 options to me. All were relatively the same price, give or take $100-200. First option, replace existing Vanguard Manobloc with comparable Viega Manobloc (I think Vanguard went out of business) Second option, shut off manifold altogether and install fittings at the fixtures (This is what I am used to. I never knew about Manobloc manifolds until I got this house). From research, these things tend to have problems even though the concept is to make it easier for you to manage your water system. The problem with the second option is that you are no longer able to shut off showers or hose bibbs. With a manifold, you can. Third option, custom build a new manifold based on brass ball bearing knobs that gives you the flexibility to replace just the parts that need to be replaced instead of the whole unit. Oasis gave me a very good warranty. That was another reason I chose them. They offered the best warranty out of the other companies that I called so I would say they stand by their work a lot longer. After weighing all the pros and cons and asking questions, I decided on the option Oasis recommended, Option # 3. It gave me the ability to shut off my water fixtures, even the showers and hose bibbs, but at the same time, allowed me to replace parts as needed, not an entire unit. The OLD unit looks prettier, but the NEW unit is just fine. I don't need pretty. I need functional and dependable. I also needed affordable and that's exactly what Oasis Plumbing provided. Max was on time and got the job finished within the period they stated. He kept putting booties on to protect my flooring every time he came in and out of the house. I appreciated that, but told him it was not necessary. This shows that the company cares about their client's property. I waited a week or so after the install to make sure everything was working before posting my review. I called them out right before posting this review because the water pressure on my kitchen faucet was less than it was before the new manifold was installed and I didn't know how to increase the pressure. It turned out that there was sediment clogging the faucet head and Max came right out and got it cleaned so that it worked properly. I had to get quotes from several companies because I had a budget and I had to make the time to research and schedule appointments for the quotes. You should always do your research too before committing to any company, even if it is well reviewed. I do feel fortunate to have come across Oasis Plumbing. From my experience, I can highly recommend their services based on their pricing, professionalism, and warranty. We will see how things go down the road on how well the manifold holds up. Only time will tell. For now, I want to thank Oasis Plumbing for their great service.
