I went to this dealership to purchase a Dodge RAM 1500. I was there for at least two hours talking with the sales rep and did a test drive. I'm ready to buy this vehicle which will be north of $40,000 and I tell the sales person I'm using cash. He hands me a credit application and I ask, "Why do I need to fill out a credit application?" He says, "because we need to verify who you are". I say, "doesn't my driver's license do that?" Then he says, "Well it's the law, even as an employee I would have to provide a credit check even though I was paying with cash." I ask what "law" are you referring to and then he leaves and returns with his manager. The manager tells me the same thing, its a law, we need to verify who you are and the more he talks the more I realize these guys are lying to me. So I walk out of this "business" and call my Toyota dealership and they say "If your not financing a vehicle we don't need to run your credit." I call Avondale Dodge to see if these lies are part of the overall Dodge business model and the internet sale manager tells me the same thing that if you are paying with cash we don't need to run your credit nor do we need your SSN. Also, the Avondale internet manager tells me that some dealerships will try to run your credit so they can push their financing on you. If these guys will lie about this, what else will they lie about?
