| - Haha... Matt E., that "constant weird scent" in the air... is patchouli. And to me, it smells like home-sweet-home. No, I'm not a patchouli-wearing hippie... but I did live in Madison for 10 years and the Willy Street neighborhood is my very favorite. And Jamerica is one of the reasons why.
The menu is small, but this place has the best jerk chicken/salmon/pork I've ever had. Seriously, it is so good. I moved to Chicago 2 years ago and this is one of those places I just can't replace. Like I said, the menu is small, and it's definitely not fancy. You kind of feel like you're in someone's house. But it is awesome. Just love it for what it is. Very basic, very delicious, very irreplaceable. I've been to Jolly Bob's a few times and I have to say... I prefer Jamerica. Jolly Bob's has more atmosphere, a bigger menu, and fancy drinks. It's fun. I'd go there AFTER I have a delicious meal at Jamerica. I would also eat at Jamerica after a night out at Jolly Bob's to cure a hangover. Their Jerk Chicken works hangover miracles. I miss Madison.
