| - My boyfriend and I love ethnic foods and have taken particular interest in Middle Eastern and Mediterranean foods. We love the lamb shank at Shish Kabob on Sharon Amity Rd, and discovered a similar lamb dish (though not shank) at Bigger Bite at JW Clay Blvd in the University area. This past Saturday we took advantage of a coupon we received in the mail, for a "buy one entree get the other free" and went there for dinner. The food was EXCELLENT and my lamb was fabulous. We decided to eat out that following Wednesday, and discovered that we had yet another Bigger Bites "buy one get one entree free" coupon and decided to take advantage of it. When we arrived there the waitress, who, by the way, is always pleasant, as is the owner, saw us, and recognized us from that past Saturday evening. We told her we loved the lamb so much we wanted to have it again and presented her with our coupon. She seemed to be examining the coupon, (clearly longer than she did on Saturday night). Her expression changed and then she preceded to tell us about how much it costs them to offer these types of deals, how much they are losing on them and that some people have their own "coupon schemes" - using someone elses coupon (how would she know that???). We took great offense to this because, 1) we receive coupons like this almost daily - and save the ones we like the most. 2) how you run your business, how much you make or lose, or your decisions to offer coupons to the general public, is NOT OUR CONCERN. We come to your restaurant to EAT. If you and the owner/manager feel that you are, in effect, "losing money" with these coupon deals then STOP offering them. But don't get mad at diners who use them, or cast an accusatory eye at that diner who presents you with a 1st, 2nd or even 3rd coupon. We use them because YOU offered them. She should know that right after she gave us this long speech, we both agreed that we would not be coming back to that restaurant again. I need to add this...although my boyfriend told me to just stick to the coupon issue. I cannot help but point out that, the subsequent lamb dish I ordered this night...which was the EXACT SAME DISH I ordered on Saturday (two huge pieces of lamb chop that were mouth-wateringly good on Saturday)...came to me in strips that can only be described as pulled off strips of leftovers you would give a dog with one miniscule piece of lamb chop. It was shocking to see this presented on a plate. I had no doubt that this was because this was my second time using this coupon deal and damned if I was going to get that same cut of lamb a second time. When asked how our food was, I expressed my disappointment (very low-keyed). Then the owner came out and gave me a lesson in cuts of lamb. I didn't need that lesson. I know cuts of lamb, and this wasn't it. The menu didn't change....the portion sizes did.
