I had a late lunch here yesterday (around 2:30pm) and my experience was not very pleasant with food and to a certain extent, service.
I ordered the 'Afghan Boti' reluctantly and because I was hungry and have spent 5 years in Afghanistan previously for work. Very familiar with Afghan food even though I had never heard of Afghan Boti before but ordered it under the assumption that it must be close to or similar to Afghan 'Dopiaza' based on the description in the menu. The description could be misleading especially for folks who are familiar with Afghan cuisine. Basically, it states "...white meat..." without specifying whether it's chicken or beef. However, Afghan Dopiaza is beef chunks/cubes (with and without bone) that is slowly cooked and the beef comes out sort of whiteish...a common dish. This was certainly not the case, they served me with pieces of chicken breast that was mostly RAW!!! I even showed it to the waiter half way through my meal, he was nice enough to offer to replace it but at that point I had lost my appetite. Additionally, I think the cook just went postal with SALT! Oh my God, just WAY TOO salty just unbelievably salty!
I also ordered the Lassi (yogurt drink) and it was so thick that it made it almost impossible to drink through a straw. So, I asked the waiter to dump half of it and put water in it so it can be real Lassi which is supposed to be thin!
I am sure other dishes are probably good but I don't believe that I will EVER order Lassi and the so-called Afghan Boti again. Besides, can't expect an Indian restaurant to produce authentic Afghan dish.
