  • This review is for Cox customer service. When you read reviews on yelp there is always a concern that people only write reviews when something goes badly wrong and therefore the reviews may be distorted. With Cox however our experiences have been exactly the same as all the horrific experiences that others have commented on. The bills simply go up with occasional phantom phone calls to China that we never made because we never use the phone at all. Attempting to cancel service takes far longer than it should with extended hold times and initial promises of discounts only ultimately to be told that you already have the best deal on offer. When I reluctantly agreed to continue Internet service for the time being not only was I quoted a ridiculously high price but the supposed all in price changed no less than three separate times during the same 10 minute conversation. The supposed justification was that the initial price was "out of date" and simply the price that they were advertising on their website. So they admit that they are advertising prices that are inaccurate. Despite me telling them repeatedly that I never used nor wanted to continue the phone they only proposed cancelling the TV service and tried to sneak in ongoing phone service. Even after that was removed they still quoted a price without disclosing that I would need to pay a modem rental fee or buy my own modem on top of that. I sympathised with the operator as I'm sure she is only doing what she has been told to do for her job but fundamentally I believe this is a dishonest and disrespectful company that only exists because of an unfair monopoly. I'm in the process of finding an alternative Internet provider even if this means a lower quality product as the service and attitude simply cannot be any worse. If I can save some money as well that would be a bonus. I would encourage everyone to stay away from Cox in the hope that eventually they will do something about their unacceptable business practices and ridiculously high charges.
