  • I'm not terribly inspired by Postino Central, but I'm not complaining either. Yelp says 3 stars mean, "A-OK!", which aptly describes how I feel about it (albeit translated into 1950s American English). The food is as good as the other location. The menu is the same. The staff are pretty much the same. The space is not actually a post office anymore, which makes me question why they decided to call it "Postino". (Answer: $$$, i.e., because the original Postino's name is now worth a lot of money on the local scene). I always thought part of the charm of being at the original Postino's was telling an out of town guest the story of how it was an actual nondescript midtown Phoenix post office before being converted into the hip restaurant we're now sitting at, and by the way right now we're sitting underneath a former garage door where the mail trucks would exit from. I guess those days are gone, as LGO's expansionist visions are implemented. I will likely come here more often than the original, because this location is 2 blocks from a train station and it's a major pain in the arse to park in the other location. I guess I just feel ambivalent about this place simply because of my natural aversion to chains. I'm admittedly biased against them, in a major way. With McDonald's being on one end of the spectrum and Chris Bianco being on the other, Postino is now one step closer to McDonald's.
