  • Burgers and fries. At their best. I dare say quite possibly the best burgers in Madison (in the old school burger category). My favorite burger is probably the toadstool with swiss and wild mushrooms, but many other combinations look extremely appealing too. The runnelstone or the heartthrob or the bayou just to name a few. They also have a variety of patties you can choose from: regular beef, bison, vegetarian, vegan, lamb, turkey... you name it. And they are delicious both medium rare and well done. I like the fries and the onion rings too and I heard great things about the cheese curds, but I've always been here for lunch and cheese curds seem to be a bit on the heavy side if you're off to work afterwards. The one problem with this place is service. It can be incredibly slow. Not always, but sometimes it can take 40 minutes to get a burger during lunch rush. Not fun. Also some of the servers are totally clueless. Anyway, they do their burgers very well. And until that is true I will brave the service.
