I don't think I've ever been able to say I actively "like" an airport. They are generally just things you tolerate. Some of them (Delhi, I'm looking at you), you actively hate. Others (Nepal, you little "we have a stray cat here sometimes" scamp) are strangely charming albeit inefficient. But today, about a week following my tenth visit to this airport, is the day I come out and say it: I LIKE the Porter airport.
Let me count the ways:
+ Easy access via TTC. Or a quick $10-15 cab ride from my west of centre Toronto home.
+ The tunnel has replaced the silly ferry system. Much much faster.
+ Its almost never overcrowded. I've never waited more than 10 mins in line at security and only once (May long weekend) have I not been able to find a comfy chair to sit on in the lounge.
+ Free snacks! I have no shame in telling you I eat one of those rad chocolate chip shortbreads immediately and put three more in my bag for later. They have a couple spots to buy more substantial food if you need it too.
+ Free coffee. And its even pretty good. My tip for strong cappuccino lovers: get a water glass instead of a coffee cup and hit the button for espresso, THEN the button for cappuccino. Its way better. Just grab a napkin to wrap around the glass so you don't burn your hand, ya dingus.
Yes, sometimes there are delays, but I'm not going to presume I know enough about this to criticize. An effort always seems to be made to resolve it as quickly as possible. I've never personally been delayed longer than 30 mins. My partner has, but he usually gets a notification on his phone (bless you Google) with enough warning to just stay home a little longer before calling a cab. Another benefit of Porter's location for sure.
