  • Came here with a friend yesterday (04/09/17). SHORT VERSION (spoiler alert): This place is like the cupcakes themselves- enticing to look at, terrible inside. LONG VERSION: I came here with my friend and we bought five cupcakes. I tried the midnight chocolate variety. I wasn't so concerned about the price of the cupcakes, which is about $3.50 each. For one cupcake, I don't think that's a bad deal. I really don't. But when you factor in the multiplicity and five cupcakes is $18+, you start second-guessing your financial savvy. The cupcakes are large and colorful, but that's the end of the good. I had the midnight cupcake to go and I knew going in it would be death by chocolate, no big deal since I can handle anything (and I mean ANYTHING) sugar. I'm in the minority reading the reviews on here, but the icing was terrific! I mean, it was some SUPERB icing! Now here's the bad: the cake on the cupcake was as hard as a hockey puck. I could actually hear myself crunching on the cake like it was a burned brownie. The take-home container used for single cupcakes is a terrible design, you'll take off a third of the icing just to lift the cupcake out of the box! They should really put the cupcakes in sideways; then you can grab the tray and slide it out (I'm working toward a Master's degree in Data Science- I think of stuff like this!). The sales associate, whose name I failed to catch (probably for the best) was awful. If I owned this store, I'd fire her. She should be behind a computer, not in customer service. No "Hi. How are you?" No "have you been here before?" No "can I help you guys find something?" No "what do you like?" Just a "you people know what you want yet?" Wow... for a cupcake place, she sure was sour! A terrible brand ambassador in every regard. Also... according to other Yelpers, there's a "buy five, get one free" deal. Guess how many cupcakes I bought? Yep- five! Guess how many I got for free? Yep- zero! Honestly, I read the other Yelp reviews before I posted this one, thinking that since it was Sunday, it was an off day. I feel like I'm fair in giving second chances, but I was so off-put with the sales associate (even if she was having a bad day, to be that cold), lack of consideration for specials, and uber bad, hard cake that I won't likely be back to this chain in this lifetime. What a shame- I felt like a kid on Christmas morning walking in, and I felt like I'd been in some type of wrestling match or plane crash or cheesy movie when I ate the sugar contraption. ...and I hate giving one-star reviews, but it happens. Review #207.
