| - Language has always done a poor job of describing physical sensations. When someone writes that a food is yummy, delicious, scrumptious, or "it makes my tummy happy," it doesn't really tell you how it tastes. You have to reach into your own memories of experience for a similar experience to understand (or come close) what the other person means. So, to understand my experience with Mitchell's ice cream, remember the time when you first deeply kissed someone you were hot for, and the feeling was mutual. You turned off your mind and let yourself get lost in all the very nice sensations running through your body. A firecracker could have gone off next door and you wouldn't have noticed. When you pulled back, it took a little while for your head to stop spinning and time to start flowing again.
Tasting Mitchell's Dark Chocolate Peppermint for the first time was like that lush, velvety kiss, with a rush of coolness blanketing my senses. My mind went blank from the intensity, and I just sat there for 30 seconds after I swallowed. I'd just had a foodgasm.
I think the rest of the pint container lasted about 15 minutes.
Over the next week, I went to the Mitchell's store 3 times for their seasonal winter flavors and enjoyed them nearly as much (nothing's like that first kiss, right?). That will have to last me until spring, when I visit Cleveland again. If I eat ice cream before then, it will be just to remind me of that Mitchell's is the best I've ever had.
